Dear Scientific Community:
We are pleased to present Volume 7, Issue 2 of Novasinergia Journal, corresponding to the first semester 2024. This issue stands out for its focus on highly relevant and current topics, addressing environmental concerns and innovations in education and construction.
In this edition, we include five articles that delve into studies on water and soil resources. These works reflect the growing concern for the state of the environment. We explore water quality in Bolivia, an increasingly scarce and valuable resource. We also analyze residential hourly consumption behavior in Guano and the removal of cadmium from the waters of the Machala estuary, emphasizing the urgent need to keep our water bodies clean and healthy. Additionally, a study on soil carbon in Arenillas, home to an important ecological reserve, and land use in the Zarumilla River basin are presented. These articles highlight the lack of clear legislation to protect the last remaining natural areas that have not been significantly affected by human activities. However, these environmental challenges also open the door to hope and action. From academia, we seek to provide solutions and knowledge that can make a difference in the preservation and restoration of our environment.
Moreover, this edition includes three articles that offer a mathematical analysis of various crucial aspects. We examine the impact of online learning modalities on the Higher Education System of Ecuador, providing guidelines on key parameters in modern education. This approach is complemented by gamification in the classroom through educational video games, demonstrating how pedagogical innovation can enhance student learning and engagement.
Finally, we close this volume with the latest advances in new materials and models for construction, focusing especially on concrete. We analyze strategies for improving construction projects, highlighting the importance of innovation in this crucial sector for sustainable development.
We invite our entire scientific community to explore these articles, which address contemporary issues of significant impact and offer solutions and innovative perspectives from academia. We hope this volume of Novasinergia will be a valuable source of knowledge and an inspiration for future studies and research.
Sincerely,
Fidel Vallejo, PhD.
